The “Sage” of CASY and MSCCN is no typo.  If MSCCN Executive Director, Erin Voirol, could go back in time and meet any single person from history she tells us that person would be the third President of the United States, Thomas Jefferson… The “Sage” of Monticello.  It is fitting that this leader share such a strong nickname with this historical figure because, like Thomas Jefferson, Erin is an innovator.  Since accepting her promotion as Executive Director, Erin has fearlessly led her team in their mission to positively impact the military community in terms of employment opportunities available to them.  Erin tells us,

"Working with MSCCN and CASY gives me the opportunity to give back to my military community and help touch the lives of many."

Erin has been an Army wife for eighteen years and has always been as involved in the military community, as her three amazing children and two fur babies have allowed.  For fifteen years, she served as a Family Readiness Group leader, while juggling a full-time job.

"I have had many jobs in my lifetime... I have worked in insurance, real estate, radio, restaurant management, as a government contractor, and even owned my own business."

After Erin's last government position ended, she began searching for a job that allowed her to do what she loves: working with the military community.  When Erin sent her resume to CASY and MSCCN, the organizations' CEO, Deb Kloeppel, was so impressed by what she saw, that she called Erin immediately and interviewed her while she was waiting for her plane at the airport.  The interview landed Erin the job and opened the door to many new opportunities, which recently included meeting First Lady, Michelle Obama, and Dr. Jill Biden in April.

Interview with Erin Voirol, MSCCN Executive Director/CASY Operations Manager

Story by Kellie Gunderman, MSEJ Assistant Editor

Hard work and her experience in human resources, management, and organizational skills eventually led to Erin's promotion as MSCCN’s Executive Director and CASY’s Operations Manager.

"I feel this promotion will give me the ability to continue to advocate for military employment issues, a cause that is near and dear to my heart."

As a leader, Erin expects a lot out of her team but knows everyone has great potential.  She plans on working with her team to find successful employment solutions and opportunities for all of our military job seekers.

"CASY and MSCCN, over the last ten years, have made incredible progress in the employment arena, and we are going to be bigger than ever this coming year.  Our relationships with employers are more solid than ever before.  We have some of the most talented and dedicated Employment Specialists serving our job seekers.  All of these team members come from within our own military community, which allows them to relate to the struggles our military spouses and veterans face, as well as be knowledgeable on Federal Hiring Processes and veteran skills translation."
